First Year Living & Learning Communities
Live where you learn.
First-Year Living and Learning Communities provide students with comprehensive opportunities that integrate one’s academic, residential, and co-curricular experience.
The application for living and learning communities (LLC) are available to all incoming first-year students. Students will have an opportunity to select from four LLCs: Health and Wellness, Honors*, Leadership through Service, and STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, & Mathematics). Each LLC includes a required First-Year Experience (FYE) seminar (for more information regarding FYE visit fairfield.edu/fye), as well as an academic element.
*Note the Honors LLC is only available to students in the Academic Honors Program.
- Academic and social transition to college
- High engagement and intentional co-curricular opportunities
- Purposeful environment where students are welcomed and valued as a community of learners
- Participate in fun opportunities with peer leaders inside and outside of the classroom
First-year students can apply for any of the First-Year Living and Learning communities when filling out their Housing Application located on the First-Year Checklist.
All First-Year Living and Learning applications will be reviewed and students will be notified if they were selected via their University email account and automatically placed in their assigned community. If students do not meet the eligibility requirements, or the LLC has reached capacity, their housing assignment will be based on the preferences in their general housing application.
