Vice President Finance and Administration William J. Lucas
William J. Lucas '69 is the Vice President of Finance and Administration at Fairfield University.
Lucas's institutional memories stretch back to 1965, when he entered Fairfield University as a freshman. The following summer, he landed a job in the accounting department, and as a sophomore moved into a work-study position in the dean of student's office. For the remainder of his undergraduate years, Lucas worked for Dean Robert Griffin on a host of student-related activities, and then secured a full-time position in financial aid after graduation, followed three years later (1972) by a promotion to University comptroller.
In 1983, Lucas was named vice president for finance by then-University President Aloysius P. Kelley, S.J. During his tenure, Lucas has carried out or oversaw the wide-ranging responsibilities of the Finance Division: preparing for audits, floating bond issues, monitoring endowment growth, and supervising the departments of payroll, the bursar, accounting, purchasing, the physical plant, and human resources.
Bill Lucas graduated from Fairfield University in 1969.
