Information for International Students

The Graduate School of Education and Allied Professions welcomes international students. A small but steady number of international students are attracted by our graduate programs, especially the TESOL and Bilingual Education programs. International students representing Korea, Japan, Greece, Spain, Rumania, Russia, Mexico, Brazil, and Portugal have studied at the Graduate School.

As an international student, you should apply well in advance of the deadline for the graduate program that interests you. Along with a formal admission application, recommendations (on forms), essay and immunity information form, international applicants must also:

  1. Submit a course-by-course evaluation of all academic records/transcripts. Learn more about transcript evaluation services for your options.
  2. Demonstrate proficiency in the English language by submitting an official TOEFL score report with a minimum TOEFL composite score of 550 on the paper-based test, 213 on the computer-based test, or 84 on the Internet-based test with a minimum score of 21 in reading and 23 in writing. International students with an earned undergraduate degree from a U.S. university are waived of this requirement.
  3. Complete a financial application to document the source(s) of financial support for study at Fairfield University. (No financial aid is available to international students).

Fairfield University will be offering housing for full-time graduate students in two locations for the 2011-12 academic year. Graduate students will be housed in independent off-campus houses and a suite-style residence hall (Kostka Hall). It is recommended that graduate students make arrangements for housing before their arrival for classes. Learn more about Graduate Housing information.

Information on off-campus housing is available from the Office of Residence Life.
