A Message From the Directors

hon_thiel-rakowitzThe Honors Program at Fairfield University offers an exciting path of study for our most talented students, with an accent on interdisciplinary team-taught courses, small seminars, and engaging discussion and debate. If you are the sort of student who is intellectually curious, who finds new ideas engaging, and who enjoys exploring the meaning of literature, film, art, politics, science, and ethics, then you are a student who will be very much at home in Fairfield's Honors Program.

The Honors Program is a place where students build lasting friendships with classmates in a shared intellectual atmosphere. The Program also offers an extracurricular calendar of events in which students may choose to participate, ranging from Broadway shows, to on-campus, faculty-led discussions on topics of interest like "False Memories" and "Re-Thinking Race in the Twenty-First Century," to faculty authors discussing their most recently-published novel or collection of poetry. Our proximity to New York and New Haven enables us to take advantage of all that these cities have to offer in the world of culture.

The links on this website should answer many of your questions about Fairfield's Honors Program, but should any remain we would be delighted to hear from you!

Of course, if you're already in the Program, we're always happy to hear from you or to help you in any way we can. This website provides lots of information about upcoming events, Honors courses, exemptions, the Senior Honors Project, and more. Explore as you like!

With good wishes for your studies,

Dr. John Thiel, Director
Dr. Susan Rakowitz, Associate Director
