50th Reunion Reflections from the class of 1965 Reunion Committee!

Over the last 50 years I think I have attended all of the reunions although it is possible that I missed one. I do it for two reasons : First to see my friends for an extended period of time rather then an hour or two having dinner and sharing war stories and secondly I believe I owe it to the university to be there and to provide a visible testimony to the invaluable contribution that they have made to my development as a man. Each time that I attend the reunion and since I live close by it's not a matter of seeing the campus and How beautiful and developed it is but rather A renewal of the covenant between University and me made 50 years ago.

-Ed Shine ‘65

I enjoyed my time at Fairfield immensely. I looked forward to the 50th reunion and it turned out to exceed my expectations. I particularly enjoyed meeting my classmates some of whom I had not seen since graduation. We all have aged a bit, maybe a lot, but our essential spirit and sense of community has remained strong. We thank Fairfield for that.

-Harry Rissetto ‘65

Both my wife Jacky and I were so impressed by the "most wonderful 50th Reunion weekend last May...it truly surpassed all of our expectations"!!!!!!!!!!

From the check in, the room, help with special food needs, the terrific pampering, by all staff...yours right down to the wait staff at meals, and everyone in between. The police escort to the graduation, the recognition of the class of '65, ( the Golden Stags ) at the graduation. Of course the comradery of classmates in attendance was the best.

This was my 7th or 8th reunion I have attended, and by far was the best. Your staff had everything down pat.

The only wish I could have had is that more classmates would have attended, because it was a terrific time.

-Chuck Protano ‘65

Class of '65 reunion -When I arrived on Friday evening I wondered how many of my classmates I'd recognize since I had only seen a few-Ed Shine, Kev Reilly, John Shaw, Gerry Hemenway, George Egan, Gerry Norton-since June of 1965.

It didn't take long to put faces-more mature-to names and to resume our talks about our days at Fairfield. The most common thread was how well we were taught by faculty that cared about us, educationally and personally. Time and the statute of limitations blurred some of the funnier stories, but all the stories made our decision to attend our 50th very worthwhile.

-Tommy Curtin '65

50th Reunion Class Book

Please consider writing a short narrative of your “journey” since graduation. A collection of these reflections and an updated class list with contact information will be compiled in a 50th Reunion Memory Book, which will be distributed at Reunion. Even if you cannot attend, we encourage you to submit an entry. Previous 50th Reunion classes have found the book inspiring, and have appreciated the contact information to reconnect with classmates. We need as many entries as possible to make this project a success, and will continue to remind you to participate!

Your story can highlight a wide range of things – from your professional career to your family, hobbies and personal life. You may submit your entry in the following ways:

• Online by clicking the box below or at www.fairfield.edu/50thmemory
