Giving appreciated stocks, bonds and mutual funds provides even greater tax benefits than giving cash while offering a meaningful charitable gift to the University. They can be used to support the annual fund or to establish a planned giving arrangement while providing a double benefit to you - avoidance of capital gains taxes and an income tax deduction equal to the fair market value.

The easiest way to transfer securities is to do so electronically and then notify us at (203) 254-4000, ext. 2765. For more detailed information about donating securities, visit our Planned Giving website.

Grow Your Contribution Over Time

Matching Gifts

Did you know that many businesses offer a matching gift program as a part of their employee benefits package? These programs allow you, the employee, to direct your organization's philanthropy to the benefit of Fairfield. If you or your spouse work for or have retired from a matching gift company, you might also be eligible to take advantage of this benefit and perhaps double or even triple your support to Fairfield University. As a donor, your gift society membership will include credit for matching gift participation.

How does the program work?

Each time you make a gift to Fairfield, remember to either include your company's matching gift form or call their 800 number. Your employer will then direct a donation to Fairfield as well. For example, if you give a $200 donation to the University, your employer may contribute a match ranging from 50% ($100) to 200% ($400) of your gift.

Unsure how your company runs its program? Contact your Human Resources Department. Completed forms can be sent to: Development Services, Fairfield University, 1073 North Benson Road, Fairfield, CT 06824.

Do I Qualify?

Search our database of known matching gift employers. If your employer does not appear, please contact your Human Resources Department directly as this list is not comprehensive.

Pledges and Endowed Gifts

A healthy endowment provides a permanent, continuously growing stream of funds so Fairfield can continue to provide a high quality Jesuit education for talented young women and men, generation after generation. Leadership contributions from inspired individuals at the major gift level ($50,000 and above) keep Fairfield University strong. A major gift to Fairfield can be structured in many ways, including multi-year pledges, and will benefit the institution for years to follow.

There are many avenues by which your major gift can have a significant impact on the University: scholarships, teaching and research, programs, facilities, and challenge grants.
