Welcome to the Bellarmine Museum
Imagine a museum that serves as both an inspiring venue for engaging with the arts as well as a place for quiet reflection. Welcome to that place - the Bellarmine Museum at Fairfield University!
Art is a universal language, capable of uniting individuals and societies across time, space, and history. It is a powerful instrument of change that can illuminate the unknown, elucidate the unfamiliar, and explain the abstract. Fairfield University has long celebrated these truisms as part of its Jesuit commitment to educating the whole person - body, mind, and soul.
Accordingly, Fairfield looks forward to inaugurating the Bellarmine Museum in the University's signature building on campus, Bellarmine Hall, in October 2010. The museum will furnish the University’s growing collection of paintings, sculptures, works on paper, and decorative art objects with a fitting new home. It will also provide all visitors to the Bellarmine - students, faculty, staff, alumni, school children, mature learners, and guests from our local communities - with access to what is envisioned as a dynamic laboratory for learning.
The net result will be the fostering of a holistic educational experience that simultaneously addresses Arts & Minds in an exciting new locus of cultural and intellectual exchange.
