Internship Program

In the Department of Communication at Fairfield University, we are committed to developing the creative and intellectual potential of our students. Part of this is combining rigorous academic study with practical experience. Through internships, students are able to test and apply theories learned in the classroom. Internships also make it possible for Fairfield University students to investigate career opportunities while adding a distinctive learning experience to their resumes. Located adjacent to the world's communication capital, Fairfield University Communication majors have the chance to intern at some of the leading media and communication firms and non-profit agencies.
To be eligible to complete an internship for-credit you must be a Junior or Senior with a minimum 3.0 GPA (this GPA requirement does not apply for Summer internships). Students are required to work 12-15 hours a week or a total of 120-150 hours a semester at their selected internship site. You can earn up to six credits for internship experiences, though these credits are elective only and do not count toward the major or general core requirements.
Internships are available during the Fall and Spring semesters as well as during Summer term. Please select either of these two options on this web page (right hand menu) to see more information.
If you are an employer interested in finding Fairfield University Communication majors, please send details of your internship opportunities, along with your contact information to Dr. David Gudelunas, the Communication Internship Coordinator.
