Ethical Expectations of CandidatesAs a student participant in the On-Campus Recruiting Program and Resume Referral Services i.e., you are representing Fairfield to all employers. Employers' continued interest in recruiting Fairfield students will be significantly influenced by their experiences during the recruiting season. For this reason the following recruiting guidelines have been established:
- Candidates should conscientiously and thoroughly prepare for the interview by researching the organization, reviewing the job descriptions and accurately presenting their qualifications.
- Candidates should sign up for interviews only when they are seriously considering the particular position. Don't use the interview slot for practice. Another student may truly be interested in the opportunity.
- Candidates should sign-up for interview times at least 48 hours prior to the interview.
- Candidates who wish to cancel need to notify the CPC 48 hours prior to the interview date.
- A student failing to appear for a scheduled interview must submit a letter of apology to the CPC along with a postage-paid envelope. Recruiting privileges may be suspended for the remainder of the recruiting season. An interview "no show" reflects poorly on Fairfield and may influence the employer's decision to return.
Remember, accepting an offer is an agreement that is expected to be honored. After accepting an offer, candidates must withdraw from the job search process and notify the CPC and any organizations with offers pending.
Students who have accepted employment are no longer eligible to participate in the On-Campus Recruiting programs.
When accepting an offer make sure that this is a position you really want. Sometimes you may need more time to decide. Discuss your concerns with a counselor at the Career Planning Center. We may be able to help you with your decision. Don't accept a position because you have no other options.
As a student at Fairfield University, you are representing Fairfield to the employing community. The image you project will be the one that the organization will apply to your fellow classmates and to the University! |
