First-Year Experience (FYE)
First Year Experience, also known as FYE, is a required seminar for all incoming undergraduate first year students. FYE can be defined as a series of programs and conversations that groups of individuals share in a community with the common goal of exploring spirituality, inspiring innovation, experiencing global education, in the pursuit of truth through intellectual curiosity.
FYE groups consist of the residence hall community in which you reside. For example, if you live in Regis 4 North, your FYE group would be that hallway. Your FYE group is lead by a team of your Resident Assistant, a First Year Mentor, and a Community Associate.

First Year Mentor Team
A First Year Mentor is a student who was selected after an intensive hiring process to serve the role of mentor, advisor, acquaintance, facilitator, and resource for incoming students. The FYM holds monthly meetings with their FYE class to discuss different issues and topics relating to the first year experience at Fairfield University. The FYM will also organize a variety of programs, events, and community service opportunities throughout the year.
Community Associates
A Community Associate (CA)is a faculty or staff member who was nominated by students on campus to fulfill this position. A Community Associate brings experience, wisdom, and guidance to a living and learning environment. The CA in your hall will serve as a role-model, a mentor, an acquaintance, but most importantly, as an advocate for establishing a sense of community in the hall.
