Dr. Danke Li
Associate Professor of History and Director of Asian Studies
Dr. Danke Li is a China-born, U.S.-educated historian who specializes in modern Chinese studies. She holds a Ph.D. from the University of Michigan.
Dr. Li's research interests include women's history and popular culture and revolution in China. She is currently working on her book manuscript on women and China's Resistance War against Japan, 1937 to 1945. For the past 10 years, she has taken annual research trips to China and has developed a close working relationship with scholars and educational institutions there. She has published scholarly articles on China, delivered papers at national and international conferences, and developed courses on Chinese history and culture at Fairfield. From 2004 to 2005, she served as the co-chair of the prestigious Modern China Seminar at Columbia University. In 2005, she received an ASIANetwork/Freeman grant and conducted student/faculty research with a group of Fairfield students in China.
