Aloysius P. Kelley, S.J. Chair in Catholic Studies

 

Paul F. Lakelanda chair filled by a leading scholar and teacher at fairfield has been established. the chair is housed in the Department of Religious Studies and serves as the focus for an interdisciplinary program in Catholic Studies.

The Chair offers to both students and to the wider community a varied program in Catholic thought and spirituality which will serve as a beacon of Catholic intellectual tradition in our region and nationally.

The Chair serves to:

Explore questions of religious and spiritual identity within the Church
Establish a program in Catholic Studies including an interdisciplinary minor
Maintain a research agenda consistent with the holder's academic rank
Develop an outreach program on important Catholic issues to the wider community

The current chair holder is Paul F. Lakeland, Ph.D., a teacher and scholar with a national reputation. He is an expert on the laity, the papacy, postmodernism and church and politics.
