How do I find full-text articles?
Watch this two-minute video that shows you how to get a full-text article from the library's databases. Or, scroll down to read instructions.
Sometimes when you find an article in a database, the full text is not available in that database. This doesn't mean, however, that the library does not have the full text in print or online. How do you find the full text of an article from one of the library's databases?
- In a database, click on the link that says "Search for full text," "Article Linker," or "Wilson Link," depending on the database you are using (view the short video above to see examples).
- A window will open showing you if and where the article is available in full text. You will see one of these different options.
- If the article is available online in another database, click on the "Article" link to access the full-text.
- If the article is available in our print collection of journals, you will see "Fairfield University Print Holdings." Take the citation information with you and head downstairs to the journals. Journals are alphabetized with the newest issue in the front shelves and older issues behind.
- If the article is not available through Fairfield University, you will see "No holdings were found." In this case, click on the "Interlibrary loan" link to order the article. Articles arrive within 2-5 business days and you can retrieve them electronically.
