oip_students11cOn-Campus Safety

Fairfield University places a high priority on keeping its campus safe for students, employees, and visitors who come here to learn and to grow. The Department of Public Safety ensures that the University stays as free as possible from crime, while maintaining an academic environment.

Crimes seldom occur on-campus; however, it is always wise to be careful. Students here have the opportunity to learn safe personal living habits through programs sponsored by student affairs and the Department of Public Safety. There is also a series of "Blue Lights" around campus from which you can make emergency phone calls if needed.

Off-Campus Safety
The area surrounding Fairfield University is very safe in general. The town of Fairfield has its own police department, which works in conjunction with the Department of Public Safety in some areas. As an international student, please keep in mind that you are not home and some of the practices from your country may be looked upon differently in the United States. When traveling, make sure you know where you are going and staying, and get references if possible. In some areas of the United States, crime can be a problem and you must be aware of this.
