Curriculum
BS in Physics
At Fairfield, the B.S. curriculum is a four year undergraduate program of study. In addition to the broad, liberal education of the core curriculum, the program of study incorporates a rigorous curriculum in physics and mathematics courses spanning the range from classical mechanics to quantum physics, from condensed matter physics to relativistic electrodynamics, and from calculus to differential equations and numerical analysis. In addition, a series of laboratory courses in analog and digital electronics, modern and laser optics, modern experimental physics, and computer programming complete the requirements for the major in physics. A minor in mathematics is automatically earned on the basis of these requirements. The physics curriculum can be adjusted to accommodate a concentration in pre-med, biophysics, secondary education and in other subfields of physics. Double majors are encouraged. A minor in Physics is available as well.
