Two Fairfield University students place ninth at National Debate

October 7, 2000

Senior Courtney Darts of Monroe, N.Y. and sophomore Phillip Rosen of Riverside, CT, placed ninth at the Williams College National Parliamentary Debate Tournament earlier this month. This event marked the Debate Team's first competition of the year where they defeated teams from Harvard, Cornell and Amherst.

The Debate Team was popular during the University's early years and then it became active again in 1989. Since then the team has competed both nationally and internationally. Dr. Kurt Naser, assistant professor of philosophy at Fairfield University, is the Debate Team's Advisor.
