November 6, 1999The Health Promotion Center at 515 Washington Avenue, run by the Fairfield University School of Nursing, will conduct health screenings and present classes in the community at the following sites:
Monday, Nov. 15
9:30 a.m.-noon: cardiovascular screening at the Urban Center at St. Charles on East Main Street
Tuesday, Nov. 16
10:45-11:45 a.m. St. John's Family Center - corner of Park and State Street- education for young mothers - "When to call the doctor"
South End Community Center - 3:15 p.m.-4:45 p.m. - self esteem class for girls, 9-12
10 a.m.-1 p.m. Housatonic Community College - in cafeteria - Holistic Health Fair - cardiovascular education and "How about soy?"
12:30 p.m.-2:30 p.m. - Helping Hands at 1124 Iranistan Avenue, a center for recovering addicts, "Cardiovascular wellness."
Wednesday, Nov. 17
10 a.m. to 2 p.m. - ABCD children attend "Screen Day" at the Health Promotion Center, 515 Washington Avenue.
10:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. - Main Post Office on Middle Street, cardiovascular screening
1:30 p.m. to 4 p.m. - Black Rock School Health Fair, cardiovascular screening
Thursday, Nov. 18
Return to Nursing Skills at Health Promotion Center at 515 Washington Avenue - for RNs who have not been working
5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. - Black Rock School Health Fair, cardiovascular screening
Friday, Nov. 19
3:15 p.m. to 4:45 p.m. - South End Community Center - youngsters ages 5-6 and 7-8, health education class
