Mission statements

FairfieldNow is a quarterly magazine whose primary mission is to foster a sense of pride, loyalty, and connectedness between the University and its alumni - who are the primary audience of the magazine - by reporting on issues of importance to them and all other constituents. To promote these ties and create well-informed ambassadors, the magazine aims to publish credible articles about the University and its alumni, and give a faithful picture of what it is like to be a Fairfield student today.

To that end, we seek story ideas from deans, faculty, alumni, advancement, and other administrators, and create a balance in each issue that highlights the distinctiveness of our Jesuit identity. Features and news briefs attempt to reflect the intellectual liveliness, "real-world" education, and commitment to service that are among Fairfield's distinctions as a Jesuit university.

Because of the long deadlines associated with a magazine, it is the place to reflect on recent events rather than promote upcoming activities or announce late-breaking news. The magazine, which accepts no external paid advertising, serves as an indirect tool to help admission and advancement meet their enrollment and philanthropic goals. It is distributed to alumni, parents, donors, potential friends of the University, trustees, and employees.

Campus Currents is the official monthly news publication for the Fairfield University community. It seeks to articulate the creative and intellectual vitality of the University and its ideals, based on the Jesuit ethic of service to others, by promoting the academic and professional achievements of its students, faculty and employees. Campus Currents also reports on the varied activities that take place on campus, informs the University community of official decisions, plans and policies of the administration, and attempts to foster a sense of community among its employees. Campus Currents reflects the values of Fairfield University which is Catholic in tradition and spirit while valuing the diversity that members of other traditions bring to the University community.
