Dr. James Simon, an award-winning college journalism professor, has had a life-long interest in studying journalism and the impact of the news media on government, politics and elections. A former Associated Press Statehouse bureau chief in Massachusetts, Dr. Simon resumed his education in 1990 at Arizona State University, earning an MA at the Cronkite School of Journalism and Telecommunication and a Ph.D. in public administration He taught at the University of the Pacific and was co-founder and associate director of The Cactus State Poll, the best known and most respected public opinion survey in the state.
    As an associate professor of English at Fairfield University, he directs the journalism sequence in the department. Dr. Simon is the author of scholarly research articles published in such journals as "Political Communication" and "The Newspaper Research Journal." Dr. Simon has been a frequent guest on television and radio shows, commenting on politics and the media, and he has served as a market research consultant for public and private clients in Arizona, California and Connecticut.
