Resident Staff Selection 2008-2009

 

Dear Applicant,

Thank you for your interest in a Resident Staff position. We believe that these positions are great leadership opportunities that offer many challenges and rewards. Hopefully you will find the application process to be an educational opportunity to learn about yourself as well as the Office of Residence Life.

Your application packet includes the following items:

Please complete the enclosed forms and return them to the Residence Life office located on the lower level of the Barone Campus Center by Friday, February 1, 2008 by 4:30 p.m. If you are studying abroad, please return them to the Residence Life office by Monday, December 3, 2007 by 4:30 p.m. Upon submitting your application you will be asked to sign up for an interview and group process time and date.

Compensation

Resident Assistants receive free room and board and a $300 stipend per year. The total value of the package is approximately $10,000 per year. Townhouse and Apartment Resident Assistants receive free room and a $300 stipend per year. Townhouse Managers receive a minimum stipend of $2000 per year.

Basic Qualifications

Applicants should be enrolled as a full-time, matriculated student, be in good standing with the university, preferably have residence hall living experience, and minimum GPA of 2.8. Additionally, applicants should genuinely enjoy working with people, demonstrate leadership, maturity, be eager to gain additional interpersonal and life skills, and have a sensitivity for the welfare of fellow students.

How to Apply

Each candidate is required to file the forms listed above and participate in the Group Process Activity (unless you are abroad during the Spring '08 semester). Personal interviews with members of the Residence Life staff will be scheduled in the Residence Life office once your completed application has been received. If you are selected and accept a position you must attend a 6-week non-credit Residence Life class that meets for one hour each week in the spring semester.

Selection Timeline

Monday, December 3rd  Applications due by 4:30 p.m. and sign up for interviews for candidates Studying Abroad during the Spring '08 semester

Friday, December 7th Interviews for candidates Studying Abroad during the Spring '08 semester

Friday, February 1st  Applications due by 4:30 p.m. and sign up for group process and interview

Friday, February 8th Interviews

Saturday, February 9th Group Process and Interviews
