Summer Programs

All students participating in a summer program at MCAS also participate in a Historical Orientation tour, which is included in the cost of tuition: Ancient & Medieval Syracuse

Students may also choose to participate in the optional Taormina excursion.

For millennia, Taormina has attracted travelers to Eastern Sicily with its magical Greek Theater overlooking the Ionian Sea and the breathtaking views of Mount Etna, Europe’s largest volcano. Hosting visitors year-round, Taormina offers a large selection of restaurants, cafes, discos, live entertainment, beautiful beaches and sports (windsurfing, scuba diving and hiking). For explorers, the surrounding environment is a paradise with several trails leading down to the sea and others up to the picturesque village of Castelmola. Hiking up to the top of the highest mountain in the area, Monte Venere, one can visit the site where the Greek Venus temples once stood. The entire region is also known worldwide for its traditional food and rich red wine made from grapes grown on the rich soil of Mount Etna.

For more information on Taormina, visit: http://www.bestofsicily.com/taormina.htm

The cost of this tour includes private bus transportation between Syracuse and Taormina, hotel, 1 dinner, guide, city and historical site tour, free time to explore, and MCAS staff on-site.

If you would like to participate in the Taormina tour, you must sign up in advance. Please contact us to reserve your place; registration must be done at least two weeks prior to the start of the term. Registration is on a first come, first served basis.
