Parents' Online Handbook: Campus Safety

Public Safety Vehicle

Fairfield University is situated nicely within a residential section of the town of Fairfield, CT, and that allows members of the campus community to feel secure and comfortable. In addition, the campus is monitored by Public Safety through cameras and regular patrols (bike, foot, and vehicle). Through the Department of Public Safety, there are always certified and trained emergency medical technicians on-campus. The residence halls require a swipe of a StagCard to enter and most academic buildings are equipped with the same technology to restrict unauthorized persons from entering those buildings after-hours.

With all these security and safety features, students sometimes forget general safety guidelines such a making sure their residence rooms are locked; not leaving books, laptops, and bags unattended in the library or Campus Center; and not propping open outside residence hall doors. It is important for students to take steps to keep themselves and their belongings safe.
