Welcome New Students
Fairfield University's Department of Student Programs & Leadership Development introduces both first-year and transfer undergraduate students to the developmental resources, unique opportunities, and engaging experiences afforded them while attending Fairfield University. Through a comprehensive and collaborative effort, we welcome you to a community of active and service-oriented learners who are eager to assist you in the understanding and appreciation of the unique experience Fairfield University offers as a Catholic university in the Jesuit tradition.
Class of 2017
Fairfield University is a Jesuit institution filled with many traditions including New Student Orientation in June and Fall Welcome in September. The Orientation program is a unique opportunity for first-year students to get acquainted with Fairfield University.
Students will have the opportunity to meet fellow classmates, sophomore, junior, and senior student leaders, and members of the faculty and staff. First-year students will stay overnight in the residence halls, and learn some of what to expect from Fairfield as a member of our community.
Attending Orientation will give first-year students a head start on a successful, enjoyable college experience, and will make your transition in September much easier. Students are expected to attend Orientation in order to participate in academic planning, register for courses, and learn important information about the Fairfield Experience.
Additionally, all full-time undergraduate first-year students participate in the First-Year Experience (FYE) program, which is focused on teaching Fairfield's core Jesuit values, cultivating student self-discovery, and exploring the importance of community. FYE includes a seminar in the fall semester, designated campus events for students to attend, and a mentoring program.
