Frequently Asked Questions about The Fairfield Fund

Q. Who supports The Fairfield Fund?

A. People just like you - Fairfield University alumni, former and current parents, University friends, faculty, and staff.

Q. What is The Fairfield Fund?

A. The University's most significant fundraising effort. Gifts to The Fairfield Fund bridge the approximately 20% gap between tuition and the University's actual operating costs, providing support for academic initiatives, students support services, faculty research, and information technology.

Q. When is the fiscal year cycle?

A. Our fiscal year is July 1 to June 30.

Q. What about matching gifts?

A. Each time you make a gift to Fairfield, you can double or triple its impact by first checking with your employer to see if they participate in a matching gift program. For example, if you give a $200 donation to the University, your employer may contribute a match ranging from 50% ($100) to 200% ($400) of your gift. Unsure if or how your company runs its program? Contact your Human Resources Department. Completed forms can be sent to: Development Services, Fairfield University, 1073 North Benson Road, Fairfield, CT 06824.

Q. Where does my gift go?

A. In a word, to our students. The Fairfield Fund opens the doors of the University to promising students from varied economic backgrounds, offering financial aid to those in need, and enhancing the collegiate experience for all once they step foot on campus. The Fairfield Fund is an integral part of the University's operating budget, providing resources to recruit and develop a preeminent faculty, supporting a wide array of extracurricular activities (including more than 80 student clubs and organizations as well as countless volunteer opportunities), and introducing innovative programming to the classroom. Your contribution to The Fairfield Fund dollars touch every aspect of student life, helping the University provide a fully integrated, truly unique living and learning experience for every Fairfield student.

Q. Why should I participate in The Fairfield Fund?

A. Two reasons: 1. Your participation helps make outstanding programs and services available to current students. 2. Your participation is among the factors considered by rating services such as U.S. News & World Report. Higher participation rates enhance the University's reputation and the value of the degrees it confers.
