Health Communication CO 248 Students will observe nursing students in patient interactions and advise on improving communication. They will collect research on patient-provider interactions.
Reg Econ Develop EC 185 Students will learn about regional economic issues related specifically to immigrant labor in Connecticut and will work with local agencies that provide support services to immigrant laborers.
20th Century Russia HI 284 Students will work with Russian immigrants through the Health Promotions Center. Projects will include documenting oral histories for and with the immigrants.
Develop Psy/majors PY 264 Students work with the adrienne Kirby Family Literacy Project, doing literacy work and mentoring.

Financial Modeling FI 320 Students will work through local organizations to help entrepreneurs (who would otherwise not have easy access to this service) develop business plans and access neceessary resources.
Technology & Society IS 220 Students will work with Bassick High School students through Youth Power Partnership on basic computer applications. Specific projects will be developed.

Photojournalism ENW 323 Students will work with fifth graders at St. An's School in Blackrock on a common immigration history and photographic documentary project.
International Migrations HR 202 Students will work with local non-profit agencies serving immigrants and refugees.
Transnational Actors IL 295 Students will collaborate on research and action projects with Save the Children, an international NGO with an office in Westport. This course is part of the Jesuit University Humanitarian Action Network project.
Developmental Psychology for Majors PY 264 Students work with the Adrienne Kirby Family Literacy Project and Action for Bridgeport Community Development's Early Learning (Head Start) program, doing literacy work and mentoring.

Courses Number Description of Service/Projects
Tax Accounting II AC 345 Students partcipate in the national VITA (Volunteer Income Tax Assistance) program through various sites in Bridgeport, filing income tax forms for individuals who qualify for Earned Income Tax Credit. This course also meets the U.S. Diversity requirement.
Information & Society IS 220 Students work with organizations such as the Cardinal Shehan Center, Six to Six Magnet School, Prospect House, and Bassick High School students through Youth Partnership mentoring people in basic computer applications. This course also meets the U.S. Diversity requirement.
Global Information Systems IS 350 There will be an optional trip to Nicaragua during Spring Break 2008; students will develop a report on the implementation phase of new software for a microfinance organization. Comparable work in Bridgeport will also be included in the course. This course also meets the World Diversity requirement.
