The Leadership Development Certificate at University College is a highly interactive online program that helps individuals develop business leadership skills for immediate application on the job. Key to successfully leading and motivating others is knowing oneself.

  • Gain self-awareness critical to leading and motivating others using feedback from other students, the instructor and a variety of assessment tools
  • Learn to facilitate change while increasing productivity
  • Create a culture of innovation within your team or organization

Participants for this program are new and experienced managers, entrepreneurs, business owners, and professionals interested in developing their management and leadership skills.

Key topics include:

  • Change, stress, and resilience.
  • Coaching for improved performance.
  • Dealing with difficult people.
  • Presenting ideas effectively.
  • Using powerful interview techniques.

Some program objectives include:

  • Analyze and examine organizational health and effectiveness using a systems model.
  • Select an appropriate leadership style based on task readiness.
  • Identify and explain how people respond to change, methods for dealing with resistance, and guidelines for effective change management.
  • Identify your time management strengths and weaknesses, as well as strategies for improving your effectiveness.
  • Conduct a situational analysis including assumptions, mission, vision, goals, and strategies for your organizational unit.

Dates: The next public open-enrollment program begins May 24, 2010 and runs to July 2, 2010.

Also, this certificate can be scheduled for groups of 10 or more to start immediately or at a convenient date for your group.
