What You'll Learn and Do

Master the Italian language

Students in Fairfield’s Italian program will learn to communicate effectively with native speakers and express themselves thoughtfully through both writing and conversation.

Take advantage of international opportunities

Students are encouraged to take the time to study abroad at our affiliate in Florence during their sophomore or junior year, or even in the summer.

Benefit from a wide range of courses

Students can take advantage of a variety of offerings, including courses on creative writing, contemporary culture and film, food, Italian American cinema, Made in Italy, the short story, literature of the New World, theater, and Dante.

Display your understanding in a capstone seminar

To complete the major, students will take a capstone seminar in English that allows them to integrate their learning and demonstrate their proficiency.
