The Egan School’s public health program is a prevention-oriented, multi-disciplinary field of study that combines science and social justice to promote conditions that protect and improve the health of people and communities.
Field Internships and Capstone Experience
Students are required to take an immersion field internship and complete a capstone experience. There will be opportunities to intern at diverse organizations such as intergovernmental agencies, humanitarian organizations, state public health agencies, and local hospitals. The capstone course will require students to apply the knowledge and experience they have gained throughout the program by completing an independent project under the guidance of a faculty member.
CEPH Accreditation
Fairfield University's four-year bachelor's program in public health is accredited by the Council on Education for Public Health.
The Program of Public Health at Fairfield University is undergoing a review by the Council on Education for Public Health (CEPH) for accreditation (transitioning from an accredited undergraduate public health program). Part of this process includes the provision of a third-party comment period, which allows anyone, including students, alumni, faculty, staff, community and practice partners, and members of the public, to share relevant information about the Program directly with CEPH. If you have any information about the Program you would like to share with CEPH to inform their review, send your comments to submissions@ceph.org by December 30, 2024.
