Fairfield’s Spanish program allows students to explore the culture and language of Spain and other Latin American countries through on-campus and abroad opportunities.

Master your command of the Spanish language

Students will learn to communicate effectively with native Spanish speakers and express themselves thoughtfully through both writing and conversation.

Take advantage of international opportunities

Students can choose to study abroad in any program based in a Spanish-speaking country that conducts courses entirely in Spanish with a focus on Latin American or Spanish culture, history, linguistics, politics, or literature.

Benefit from a wide range of course offerings

Students take classes in three areas: Peninsular (Spanish) Literature and Culture, Latin American Literature and Culture, and Linguistics, Translation Studies, and Spanish for Specific Purposes. The diverse course offering ensures students develop a nuanced and thorough understanding of the Spanish language and the cultures that speak it.

Further your understanding through professional opportunities

Students can choose to have specific internship experiences count towards one of their elective courses. By gaining Spanish-speaking experience in a professional setting, students will be better prepared for success in diverse environments.
