A Message from Dean Zhan Li, DBA

Guided by the Jesuit mission emphasizing social responsibility and justice, the Dolan School of Business aims to develop ethical leaders with a global mindset. Competitive forces, both domestic and global, have increased the dynamics and complexity of product markets. Ever-changing technology, combined with an increased entrepreneurial mindset, has challenged the traditional models of business behavior and conventional ways of thinking. The proliferation of data across all sectors of industry has made it necessary for business leaders to be not only cross-functionally competent but also savvy to incorporate business analytics in business decisions. To best prepare our students for these dynamic issues, a Dolan School education provides the following:

A rich portfolio of degree and certificate programs. Students can enrich their general business understanding (e.g., MBA), gain skills in specific areas (e.g., accounting, finance, marketing, economics, and entrepreneurship), and/or develop focused competency (e.g., Master’s degrees in Business Analytics, Finance, and Accounting, Certified Financial Planner certificate, and HR Management Certification).

Faculty who are both national scholars and highly regarded and informed teachers. As thought-leaders in their disciplines, Dolan School faculty members use scholarly research to inform their teaching. As a result, students benefit from lectures and course activities that bring real world issues into the classroom.

Curricula that challenge and inspire students. At the undergraduate level, business education is purposely infused with a broad and rich arts and sciences core curriculum. Students become critical thinkers and better-informed participants of the larger society. Dolan’s MBA and various specialized MS programs afford students opportunities to study advanced business topics and analytic skills. As a result, Dolan students are sought after for positions in accounting, analytics, finance and investing, human resources, and marketing.

Personal and professional development programs to complement academic experiences. A rigorous academic curriculum is paramount for success; however, it is also important to develop one’s character and readiness for the business world. Workshops, seminars, lectures, and experiential activities ranging from field trips to mock interviews to study abroad options are some of the many resources available to further enhance students’ personal and professional capabilities.

A strong, proud professional network. At the Dolan School, we are thankful for and proud of our alumni and friends of Fairfield University, not just for their ongoing contributions to our school but also their eagerness to seek out, mentor, and champion our talented students for internships and employment.

If you are forward-thinking, highly motivated and open to challenges, an education and learning experience from the Dolan School is for you. I look forward to welcoming you to our community.
