Overview

College Corps LogoAs part of a statewide effort to promote summer enrichment opportunities for students in grades K-12, the AccelerateCT task force is recruiting up to 500 Corps members to serve in the College Corps CT Summer Program during the 2022 summer season. All undergraduate college students who attend Connecticut colleges and universities are eligible to apply, including Class of 2022 graduating college seniors. Connecticut residents who attend college out of state are also eligible.

Corps members will receive one week of specialized training prior to being matched with summer enrichment programs throughout the state. They will work for approximately seven weeks supporting summer programs to provide joyful, stimulating experiences for youth. The total number of hours per week will vary by site, with an anticipated average of about 30 hours per week. In addition to the 7 weeks of work, a paid mandatory training will take place from June 6 – 10, 2022. Work at host sites could begin as early as June 13, 2022.

Programming

Corps members will engage with K-12 students to take part in enrichment activities and purposeful play that include but are not limited to:

Sports, physical activity, music, performing arts, STEM activities, field trips, career and college exploration, cooking, and outdoor activities.

Criteria to Apply

Applicants should be undergraduate college students who attend Connecticut colleges and universities including Class of 2022 graduating college seniors or Connecticut residents who attend college out of state.

Any current college student is eligible to apply to the College Corps pending a background check.  

Eight weeks. That includes one online training week and seven weeks in-person. The training week will starts June 6, 2022.

The hours can vary depending on the placement. This is something to be discussed between the applicant and the placement administrators. Corps members can plan on working an average of 30 hours per week although the actual scheduling may be flexible. 

Activities can vary depending on the placement site. Possible activities may include: play learning, STEAM activities, sports, arts, team building, cooking, and other enrichment activities. Activities will be designed to be a fun and rewarding experience for everyone involved!

This will be an in-person experience. The one-week training will be online.
