Workday Student: Phase 0 Complete, Now Launching Phase 1

As part of the University’s ongoing strategic plan to elevate our student experience, Fairfield is transitioning to Workday Student as its next-generation Student Information System.

Workday Student is intuitive, accessible, and mobile-friendly, and will offer students a streamlined user-experience starting in 2025.

"Workday Student will provide a clear and detailed means for students to access key academic information for advising purposes, and to perform specific functions such as course registration and updating of the academic record," said Vice Provost for Undergraduate Excellence Mark Ligas, PhD. "Further, the functionality of Workday will enable students to interact with the system 'on the go,' thus literally putting academic information and processes in the students’ reach at all times."

Workday Student is a cloud-based system that will replace the current Banner application. When implemented, Workday Student will be completely connected to the existing Workday enterprise cloud management solution for finance and human resources, making it easier for faculty and staff to interact with students and access data. It will also provide the means for the University to align business processes, increase efficiencies, and improve analytics and reporting.

Why should you be excited about Workday Student coming to Fairfield?

  • The program will provide mobile access and a more streamlined process to accomplish admission-to-graduation tasks for faculty, students, and staff.
  • Students will be able to view and manage personal information, plan and register for classes, add or drop classes, check grades and request transcripts, track academic requirements and progress toward graduation, view student accounts, manage payments, and request refunds. Students can also view student accounts, handle payments, and request refunds.
  • Faculty members can view course schedules, check enrollments, find course information such as location and course format, access course rosters, enter and edit grades, and view information about advisees.
  • Staff will be able to view advisee and student information, support academic planning, view academic progress, create and view courses and course sections, manage academic overrides for students, review student financial accounts, and view and manage holds on student accounts.

What will happen in Phase 1?

The next phase of launching Workday Student will include the program's planning, design, development, testing, user acceptance, and implementation phases, taking us to a 2025 Workday Student Go Live date.

Stay tuned for more updates in the coming months.
