Fairfield Dolan Welcomes 2023 Conlisk Scholar Cian O’Donnell

A graduate of the University of Limerick, O’Donnell will join other Conlisk scholars in pursuit of a master’s degree at Fairfield Dolan.

Upon graduating from the University of Limerick last May, Cian O'Donnell sought to pursue his lifelong dream of furthering his education in the U.S. The Conlisk Scholarship presented him with the opportunity to do just that at the Charles F. Dolan School of Business. As a proud first-generation college student, O’Donnell has stepped into Dolan’s Master of Science in Business Analytics (MSBA) program with confidence that it will equip him to make an impact within the modern business landscape.

The prestigious Rev. John M. Conlisk Scholarship was created more than 20 years ago to enhance job opportunities for business students from Ireland. It provides tuition, housing, books, and medical insurance for a year of study at the Dolan School of Business. As this year’s Conlisk scholar, O’Donnell said, “My goal is to honor the essence of the Conlisk Scholarship by making a meaningful impact and creating a legacy of my own, one that echoes the kindness and support I've received.”

After completing his undergraduate degree in Ireland, O’Donnell accepted a job offer in management consulting. While working as an analyst, he recognized the importance of data proficiency to improve decision-making, drive institutional efficiency, and affect the bottom line. As he pursues his MSBA, he believes that merging practical experience with a technical skillset will allow him to better understand the evolving data–driven business environment.

“What sets this program apart, besides its curriculum, is the support and guidance provided by the faculty within the Dolan School of Business,” said O’Donnell. “Their expertise, combined with a commitment to student growth, creates an environment that fosters both learning and personal development.“

O’Donnell described the MSBA program as a unique blend of academic development, hands-on learning, and mentorship. Expressing gratitude for this opportunity, he said he appreciates being able to study in the U.S. and is thankful to his family for supporting him in his endeavors. He has also benefited from the backing of former Conlisk scholars; according to O’Donnell, this group exhibits a remarkable camaraderie that has truly enhanced his overall experience.

While in Connecticut, O’Donnell looks forward to continuing to travel along the East Coast, while focusing on his studies in the data analytics space.
