Mahoney Arena Among ENR New England 2023 Project Winners

Engineering News-Record (ENR) New England recently announced that the Leo D. Mahoney Arena made this year’s regional Best Project winners list.

Fairfield University’s Leo D. Mahoney Arena was among 19 regional projects that were awarded in 14 categories by ENR New England. The Mahoney Arena project won an Award of Merit in the Sports/Entertainment category. Projects were located in Connecticut, Rhode Island, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Vermont and Maine.

Engineering News-Record (ENR) is an online and print magazine that provides news, analysis, and commentary on the construction industry globally. According to ENR, “Projects were evaluated on the ability of the project team to overcome challenges, safety, construction/design quality, and contribution to the industry and the community.”

The 85,000-square foot Mahoney Arena—which replaced the University's landmark Alumni Hall—officially opened in Nov. 2022, is home of the Stags' basketball and volleyball programs, and serves as a venue for concerts and events.
