The prestigious Lucy Katz Person of the Year Award was instituted in 1994 by Johanna Garvey, PhD, associate professor of English, and Lucy Katz, PhD, professor emeritus, to annually recognize outstanding contributions to women's issues. Renamed in 2007 to honor Dr. Katz's legacy, the award symbolizes the enduring spirit of women's empowerment.
