The Stags will vie for their respective conference crowns next week.
The postseason is just around the corner for a pair of Fairfield University Athletics programs. The Stags’ field hockey team will be the top seed in the upcoming Northeast Conference Championship, while the women’s soccer team has locked in the second seed in next week’s Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Championship.
Under the direction of Head Coach Jackie Kane ’87, Fairfield Field Hockey has already claimed the NEC Regular Season Championship entering the final week of the regular season. The Stags are currently 12-3 overall and a perfect 6-0 in conference play to sew up the top seed. The 2023 NEC Championship will be held at Wagner College on Nov. 3-5. More information will be announced when the field is finalized at the conclusion of the regular season this weekend.
Fairfield previously won the NEC crown in both 2019 and 2021.
Head Coach Dave Barrett and Fairfield Women’s Soccer locked up the second seed in the MAAC Championship for the second consecutive season. The Stags earned a bye to the semifinal round and will host an opponent to be determined on Lessing Field on Thursday, Nov. 2 at 7 p.m. Fairfield capped the regular season with a 4-0 win over Saint Peter’s on Wednesday evening to head to the postseason with a record of 9-5-4 overall and 7-2-1 in the MAAC. The Stags will learn their semifinal opponent after the tournament’s first round games are played this Sunday, Oct. 29.
Fairfield Women’s Soccer is seeking the seventh MAAC Championship in program history, last raising the trophy in 2008.
