Meet Men’s Baseball student-athlete Ethan Hibbard BS '23, MS '24

Men’s Baseball student-athlete Ethan Hibbard BS '23, MS '24 is from Roxbury, Connecticut and is currently studying in the MS Electrical & Computer Engineering program.

To all who support Stags Athletics, thank you so much! The Fairfield student-athlete experience would not be possible without you!

1) What I am looking forward to most about this season?
The baseball team is coming off of a very successful season and we are looking to build on our previous successes. We have many returning players who are looking to fill bigger roles and ultimately win a MAAC championship!

2) What I most enjoy about being a member of a Fairfield University Athletic Team
The bond that I share with my teammates is the best part of being a Fairfield student-athlete. Working hard, day in and day out, with 40 guys that I can call my brothers, is more fulfilling than anything that an on-field accomplishment can be.

3) My favorite Fairfield memory thus far is.... (can be from your sport, class, or other student activity)
My favorite Fairfield memory came on a Sunday in May of last year. We were playing Iona in the third game of the series. We had played well all weekend and we were looking to complete the sweep. In the bottom of the third inning, my closest friend on the team, AJ Donofrio, hit one of the furthest home runs I have ever seen. I was on deck at the time and I didn’t know how I was going to beat what he had just done. I remembered that one night over the winter, AJ and I talked about hitting back-to-back home runs in a game, and how awesome it would be if we could pull it off. I walked up to the plate and that was the only time I had ever tried to hit a home run in a game. I made contact and the ball flew over the fence. As I rounded third base, all I saw was a giant smile on AJ’s face. When I got back to the dugout, we gave each other a big hug and knew we would have a story to tell our kids.

4) How my experience at Fairfield University influenced my (personal, academic, spiritual and/or professional) life and perspective
In my time at Fairfield, I’ve learned that good friends can make up for any shortcomings in someone's athletic life, professional life, or personal life. Keeping yourself in good company will make you happier than any amount of status you can achieve.

5) My plans after graduation are...
After graduation, I plan to become an electrical engineer at L3Harris. I will be designing and testing towed arrays for submarines.
