Stags Receive Votes in Latest National Top 25 Poll

Fairfield Women's Basketball Earns First-Ever Recognition in Associate Press Poll

On the heels of the 12-1 start to the 2023-24 season, the Fairfield Women’s Basketball program has received a pair of votes in the latest Associated Press Top 25 Poll. For the first time in program history, the Stags received votes on the national ledger, which was released on Monday, Jan. 8. They are only the seventh MAAC team to be recognized by the AP.

The Stags entered the national spotlight riding a 10-game winning streak dating back to a Nov. 20 upset of Big Ten foe Rutgers. The run also includes wins over St. John’s, Fordham, and local rival Sacred Heart. Fairfield’s only setback this season is a three-point loss at Vanderbilt, which is currently the first team outside the AP Top 25 with a record of 15-1.

Fairfield is also ranked #12 in this week’s College Insider Mid Major Top 25 as one of just two teams to receive a first-place vote.

The 12-1 Stags will take the court at Leo D. Mahoney Arena this week for their first home games of 2024, hosting Iona on Thursday, Jan. 11 at 7 p.m. and welcoming Siena on Saturday, Jan. 13 at 2 p.m.

Tickets are on sale now at FairfieldStags.com/TIX.
