The Educational Technology Forum brought together more than 60 educators and presenters, and featured insights from Apple Education.
On November 1, Fairfield University’s School of Education and Human Development (SEHD) hosted more than 60 educators on the North Benson campus for an Educational Technology Forum. This event served as both a networking opportunity and a platform for idea-sharing, and featured numerous presenters, including representatives from Apple Education and the State of Connecticut.
Joshua Elliott, EdD, director of the SEHD's Educational Technology program, reflected on the event’s success. “It was a great day with many productive conversations," he said. "There were so many amazing ideas and strategies shared.”
At the heart of the forum was a focus on “ed tech,” which encompasses digital tools that support learning, such as Canva and Google Classroom. It also includes technologies used in library studies, and other resources that enhance the overall student experience.
The forum featured multiple presentations, including discussions on how educational technology is being integrated into classrooms. One of the highlights was a detailed overview from Apple Education on the new artificial intelligence (AI) features in the latest software update. In addition to the discussions on classroom integration, the forum also highlighted the importance of fostering collaboration among educators.
“It is important for teachers to have opportunities like this where they can share ideas. I am proud that Fairfield was able to lead this initiative,” said Dr. Elliott.
Participants had the opportunity to hear from Dawn De La Valle, director of library development for the State of Connecticut, as well as staff from Fairfield University’s DiMenna-Nyselius Library. These sessions provided valuable insights into how libraries are leveraging technology to enhance teaching and learning.
