Britney L. Jones is an assistant professor of educational studies & teacher preparation and director of Elementary Education in the School of Education & Human Development. Dr. Jones earned her bachelor's degree in education studies and her master of arts in teaching degree both from Brown University. Dr. Jones then went on to become an elementary school teacher and curriculum developer in Brooklyn, NY before attending graduate school at the University of Connecticut. There she focused on Culturally Relevant Science Teaching and teachers' sociopolitical consciousness for her dissertation.
Dr. Jones currently studies educational policy and instruction, as well as school organization and leadership. She focuses on the creation and preservation of inclusive, relevant, and sustaining spaces for all students. Her research explores the ways in which teachers, school leaders, and educational policies are positioned to support efforts to make schools more equitable. Dr. Jones aims to bring her research interests into her courses by introducing and modeling inclusive, relevant, and responsive practices.
“In the coming year, I am looking forward to seeing the first group of master's level students that I have worked with here at Fairfield University head off to their own classrooms; taking their learning from ESTP with them. I also look forward to seeing all of the great learning, excitement and opportunity that the growth in the undergraduate major programs will bring. Additionally, I hope to bring my family to campus for a tour or game real soon, go Stags! Finally, I am looking forward to getting to know/work with my colleagues in SEHD and beyond in meaningful ways,” Dr. Jones said.
Natasha Booker, PhD, LCSW

Dr. Natasha Booker, affectionately known as Dr. Tasha, is a dedicated coach and therapist committed to empowering Black women to overcome challenges and realize their full potential. She focuses on helping them live authentic and intentional lives. Dr. Tasha’s approach to therapy and coaching is deeply rooted in compassion and cultural sensitivity, informed by her profound understanding of the unique experiences and pressures faced by Black women. Dr. Tasha is the owner and CEO of Pathways to Wellness in Hamden, CT.
With over fifteen years of experience working with diverse populations, Dr. Tasha has a rich background in the field. She earned her undergraduate degree in Human Services from the University of Bridgeport, followed by a master of art’s degree in social work from Fordham University. Dr. Tasha further advanced her expertise by obtaining a doctorate degree in human and social services, specializing in Black women and mental health.
In her personal life, Dr. Tasha is a proud wife, mother of two boys, aged 23 and 16, and a fur mom. Dr. Tasha enjoys a variety of activities including decorating, collecting books (though she doesn't always read them), traveling, serving the community, and spending quality time with her family.
Dr. Tasha believes, “I believe if you heal a woman, you heal a generation,” and looks forward to immersing herself in the Stag community.
