The Fairfield University Women’s Basketball program has checked in at #13 in the latest CollegeInsider.com Mid-Major Top 25. The weekly ledger ranks the nation’s top teams outside of the traditional “power conferences” of college basketball.
Including Thursday’s 96-49 rout at Niagara, the Stags are 12-3 on the season and a perfect 6-0 in the MAAC. Fairfield has won 29 consecutive games against MAAC opponents dating back to last season’s 20-0 league mark and three-game run through the conference championship tournament.
In addition to the Mid-Major Top 25, Fairfield ranks among the nation’s top 50 in the NET rankings – one of the key metrics used to determine the NCAA March Madness field. The Stags slotted #49 in the latest edition of the ranking, fueled by non-conference wins including Villanova, Wake Forest, and Arkansas, in addition to the unbeaten start to league play. Fairfield’s NET ranking is fourth among teams considered to be “Mid-Major” by CollegeInsider.com.
Fairfield Women’s Basketball returns to action this Saturday, Jan. 18 at Canisius. Upcoming home games for the Stags include an 11 a.m. “Kids Day Out” game against Manhattan on Thursday, Jan. 23 and an in-state MAAC showdown with Quinnipiac on Thursday, Jan. 30 at 7 p.m.
