The Fairfield University Art Museum is launching a free digital guide powered by Bloomberg Connects to enrich visitor engagement and expand the overall accessibility of its exhibitions and programming.

In mid-April, the Fairfield University Art Museum (FUAM) will begin offering a free digital guide, providing an immersive experience for all before, during, and after their visit. The FUAM staff is thrilled to announce that this new resource will bring exhibitions to life in virtual contexts with innovative ways to interact with the museum. Visitors can access videos, guided tours, storytelling, and virtual art galleries. The guide will also offer various features, including zooming, adjusting font sizes, and requesting captions and audio transcripts.

“We’re always looking for new ways to connect audiences with the museum’s collection and exhibitions,” Michelle DiMarzo '07, PhD, curator of education and academic engagement, said. “We’re also really excited that being part of Bloomberg Connects will increase our visibility in Fairfield County and beyond. The digital guide is based on geographic location, so for example, if you pull it up while visiting the Aldrich Contemporary Art Museum in Ridgefield, Conn., you'll realize that FUAM isn't that far away.”

The digital guide will be updated regularly to feature new exhibitions and programs, ensuring that individuals stay informed about the museum’s extensive offerings. Anyone using the guide will be able to preview upcoming exhibitions for the next year and a half.

The Executive Director of FUAM, Carey Weber, expressed great enthusiasm for the new free digital guide, highlighting how it will provide additional opportunities for interaction. "We are committed to providing remote audiences with access to our exhibitions, and this guide allows both in-person and virtual visitors to easily interact with all of the content we create,” she said.

Bloomberg Connects is funded by Bloomberg Philanthropies, which aims to boost the availability of arts and culture for all. With more than 4.5 million users, the organization helps art institutions, such as the Fairfield University Art Museum, expand their reach and elevate visitors' experiences.

"We are very grateful to Bloomberg Philanthropies for the opportunity to be a part of the elite Bloomberg Connects cohort of over 800 arts and culture institutions worldwide," said Weber.
