Songs from Carole King, Lady Gaga, Queen, and More
On Wednesday, May 1 at 7:30 p.m. in the Regina A. Quick Center for the Arts, the Glee Club will present its annual end-of-year concert. This year’s theme is “Top 40 Rock Countdown” and will feature musical performances by the Glee Club and the Fairfield University Chamber Singers, conducted by Carole Ann Maxwell, D.S.M., with accompanist Beth Palmer and the Pops Band.
The popular pops concert features musical favorites for everyone — from Bon Jovi, Carole King, and Lady Gaga, to Alicia Keys and Queen. The program kicks off with the full Glee Club’s rendition of “Thunder” by Imagine Dragons and Alannah Myles’ “Black Velvet.” Other featured songs include “Living on a Prayer” from Bon Jovi, “Superstition” from Stevie Wonder, “Bohemian Rhapsody” from Queen, “Titanium” from David Guetta, “Shallow” from Lady Gaga and Mark Ronson, and more. Special performances will include the University’s all-female a cappella group, Sweet Harmony, and all-male a cappella group, The Bensonians.
Founded in 1947, The Fairfield University Glee Club is the oldest club on the Fairfield University campus. The members share a deep love for music and a common desire to achieve excellence in it. More than 110 undergraduate and graduate singers make up the Fairfield University Glee Club. Singers’ voices explore a wide variety of repertoire, diverse styles of music, and enrich audiences with challenging and inspiring programming.
