The baseball and lacrosse standouts led their respective teams to victory this past week.

Fairfield Baseball's Justin Guerrera ’22 and Dylan Beckwith ’20 of Fairfield Men’s Lacrosse have both received national honors for the their respective performances this past week. Guerrera was named one of Collegiate Baseball’s National Players of the Week, and Beckwith earned a place on the USILA Division I Team of the Week.

Guerrera batted .533 – going 8-for-15 – with nine RBIs, seven runs scored, and three stolen bases, highlighted by blasting four homers in a four-game sweep of Canisius on opening weekend at Alumni Diamond. In Saturday's nightcap, Guerrera became the third Stag ever to hit three homers in a game, while helping the Stags to a 13-4 victory over the Golden Griffs.

Guerrera recorded at least one hit in each of the four games, ending the series with a 3-for-4 showing in the 8-0 win. He was also selected as the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Player of the Week for his efforts at the plate.

Last Wednesday night at Rafferty Stadium, Beckwith was an offensive force in the Stags’ 14-8 win over crosstown foe Sacred Heart. He netted five goals with four assists, matching his career high and finishing just one point short of the Fairfield single-game record.

Beckwith scored four of his points – three goals and one assist – during the 6-0 run that opened the game and staked Fairfield to a lead that it would not relinquish. He added one goal and one assist in the third quarter with one goal and two helpers in the fourth frame as the Stags outscored the Pioneers, 6-2, in the second half.

Fairfield Baseball and Men’s Lacrosse both return to action this weekend. Head Coach Bill Currier’s baseball team heads to Saint Peter’s for a four-game MAAC series with the Peacocks, while Head Coach Andrew Baxter leads the men’s lacrosse squad back into CAA play with a Friday, March 26 visit from Hofstra.
