Tickets are on sale now.

Fairfield University Men’s Soccer alumnus and U.S. Men’s National Team goalkeeper Matt Turner ’17 will return to Lessing Field on Saturday, Oct. 2 at 7 p.m. when the Stags host Niagara in MAAC action. Turner will be recognized at halftime and will be signing postgame autographs for youth fans on a free Fairfield Soccer poster.

Lessing Field is a “preferred cashless” venue; all fans are encouraged to purchase tickets in advance or to pay via credit card at the gate. Current Fairfield students can claim their free tickets via the Super Stags app.

Last month, Turner won the CONCACAF Gold Cup with the U.S. Men’s National Team and was lauded with the tournament’s Best Goalkeeper Award after ceding just one goal (via penalty kick) compared to 26 saves in six matches. He recently rejoined the USMNT for the final round of World Cup Qualifiers and is currently undefeated midway through the six-match slate.

Also the starting goalkeeper for the New England Revolution of Major League Soccer, Turner was the MLS All-Star Game MVP after making three saves in a penalty kick shootout to secure victory for the MLS over Mexico’s Liga MX All-Stars.

As a Stag, Turner was a two-year starter following in the footsteps of former New Zealand national team keeper Michael O’Keeffe ’13. Turner led the nation in save percentage in 2014 (.889) as the anchor of a Fairfield backline that amassed 13 shutouts in 20 matches that campaign. After another stellar season in goal in 2015, he capped his collegiate career as an All-MAAC Second Team honoree.
