Stags Win Fourth Straight MAAC Women’s Lacrosse Championship

Fairfield Will Challenge #4 Syracuse on Friday in Princeton, N.J.

Fairfield Women’s Lacrosse won its fourth consecutive MAAC Championship this past Sunday with a 14-11 win over top-seeded Monmouth. The Stags advance to the NCAA postseason for the sixth time in program history, where they will play fifth-seeded and #4 nationally-ranked Syracuse on Friday, May 13 at 4 p.m. The game will be held at Princeton University in Princeton, N.J.

Kelly Horning ’21 was named MAAC Championship MVP after filling out the statsheet with six goals, 11 ground balls and eight caused turnovers in Fairfield’s three-game run to the title. She was joined on the All-Championship Team by Keyla Bay ’22, Nicollette LaVista ’22, Caroline Mangan ’22, and Libby Rowe ’23.

The MAAC Championship in a conference-record seventh for the Stags, who won the tournament in 2001, 2009, and 2015, in addition to this current four-year stretch (2018, 2019, 2021, 2022). Head Coach Laura Field has been at the helm of the four most recent titles and also served as top assistant for Mike Waldvogel for the 2009 and 2015 championships.

Friday’s game will be broadcast live on ESPN+. The winner will meet either the host Tigers or UMass on Sunday at noon.
