The first MAAC Championship of the fall is set for Saturday, Oct. 29.

Fall championship season is just weeks away as six teams of Stags make their final push toward the postseason.

Men’s and women’s cross country will be first to compete for a title when they hit the course in Albany on Saturday, Oct. 29. Both teams are paced by seniors as Courtney Kitchen ’23 leads the women and Robert Dillon ’23 heads the men’s team going into the first MAAC Championship meet for new Head Coach Jake Jayworth.

Oct. 29 is also the quarterfinal round of the MAAC Championship for women’s soccer. The Stags are currently tied for first place with a pivotal match against third-place Niagara slated for this Saturday, Oct. 22, at noon on Lessing Field (tickets). The top six teams qualify for the postseason, with the two highest seeds earning a bye to the Nov. 3 semifinal round.

Fairfield men’s soccer has just passed the midway point of its 2022 conference schedule. The Stags enter this weekend’s trip to Niagara ranked seventh but only five points out of first place in a crowded field. Fairfield will play its next three matches away from home before closing the regular season on Lessing Field against Siena on Nov. 2.

In the Northeast Conference, defending champion Fairfield field hockey starts a crucial league weekend at 3-1. The Stags host 4-0 Wagner on Friday, Oct. 21 and then visit fellow 3-1 squad LIU on Sunday. The NEC Championship will be hosted by Wagner on Staten Island, Nov. 4-6, and will feature the top four teams vying for the league crown.

Wrapping up the fall, Fairfield volleyball will venture to the Disney Wide World of Sports Complex in Orlando as all 10 teams compete for the MAAC Championship from Nov. 16 to 20. The reigning MAAC Champion Stags are currently in first place as the conference slate reaches the midway point. Up next, Fairfield hosts Niagara and Canisius on Oct. 22-23 at the RecPlex.
