Fairfield University community members are invited to participate as Storytellers in conversations that promote understanding, empathy, and an appreciation of diversity.
Inspired by the Human Library that was held on campus from 2016 to 2021, the DiMenna-Nyselius Library will introduce a new event titled Stags Share Stories: Conversations That Connect Us on Thursday, Nov. 10, 2022. Two sessions will take place both in-person and virtually: the first from 2 to 4:30 p.m., and the second from 6:30 to 9 p.m.
Stags Share Stories will be an opportunity for individuals to connect with each other to promote a culture of understanding, empathy, and appreciation of our diverse University community, where deep and challenging conversations are welcomed, respected, and valued.
The library is looking for students, faculty, staff, and alumni to volunteer as "Storytellers" to talk about their life experiences in small group conversations that address stereotypes, prejudices, or misconceptions about their identities. This event will serve as an example of Fairfield University’s commitment as a Jesuit Catholic institution to offer experiences of encounter and dialogue. Students, faculty, and staff are invited to participants both in-person at the library and virtually. Alumni and community members will have the opportunity to participate virtually.
Interested in sharing your story? Sign up online to be a storyteller by Friday, Oct. 14.
First-year students who participate in Stags Share Stories: Conversations That Connect Us will receive FYE DEI credit. Registration opens Nov. 1 for the Nov. 10 event.
