Catch the Stags in Action on Fairfield Friday

Field Hockey, Swimming & Diving, and Volleyball are all set to host key local matchups.

Three major home events are on tap for this Fairfield Friday, Oct. 6, with the Stags’ field hockey, swimming and diving, and volleyball teams all in action on campus. Admission is free for all fans to all three events.

The festivities begin at 4 p.m. on University Field, with Fairfield Field Hockey hosting in-state Northeast Conference foe Sacred Heart. The Stags bring a three-game winning streak into the weekend, most recently dispatching Columbia this past Sunday to improve to 7-2 overall. The Pioneers are 2-7 on the season coming off of a 1-0 NEC road loss at LIU.

The field hockey team will also be at home on Sunday, Oct. 8, to continue NEC play against visiting Saint Francis at 1 p.m.

At 6 p.m., action begins at the RecPlex Pool with the diving portion of the Fairfield Invitational. The 2023-24 season opener for Fairfield Men’s and Women’s Swimming & Diving brings Sacred Heart, Manhattan, Central Connecticut, and Southern Connecticut to campus for two days of competition. Swimming events will be held on Saturday, Oct. 7, beginning at noon.

The nightcap takes place at Leo D. Mahoney Arena with Fairfield Volleyball hosting Quinnipiac in a rematch of the 2022 MAAC Championship Match. First place will be on the line as the 5-1 Stags (9-5 overall) challenge the 6-0 (10-5 overall) Bobcats.

Saturday’s home slate also includes Fairfield Women’s Soccer hosting Canisius in MAAC action on Lessing Field beginning at noon.
