Goalie Payton Rahn '25 makes a against Iowa

Payton Rahn '25 makes one of her seven saves against nationally ranked Iowa.

One women’s soccer player earned a MAAC weekly award, and two field hockey teammates were recognized by the NEC this week.

Three Stags student-athletes have been recognized this week for their early season success. On Monday, Fairfield women's soccer player Dana Nadda ’27 was named MAAC Rookie of the Week. She was joined by a Fairfield field hockey duo on Wednesday, as Alex Senior ’26 was named NEC Offensive Player of the Week, and Payton Rahn ’25 was tabbed as NEC Defensive Player of the Week.

Nadda scored her first career goal in the Stags’ 3-1 win at Fordham on Sunday. Her marker started the scoring late in the first half of the match in the Bronx, and the goal stood as the game-winner, as Fairfield never trailed en route to victory.

Senior and Rahn were lauded for their respective outings in a 2-1 week to start the 2023 field hockey campaign. The Stags defeated Hofstra and Bryant during the week with their lone loss coming to Iowa – currently the top-ranked team in the nation. Senior scored a goal in each of the Fairfield wins this past week, while Rahn posted shutouts in the cage against both the Pride and the Bulldogs.
